The 3rd grade students welcomed their new English teachers Paula and Vanessa. Vanessa is one of our teacher-trainees, who is staying with us until December. New routines are being settled in class: the good morning song, the “mix-it-up” song to choose the class helpers, the “days of the week” song to fill in the calendar, and the “goodbye” song to finish the lesson. The children are all joining in now with the chanting and this is good fun!

The children are also encouraged to speak in English. They presented a mini-project called “All About Me” to their class, and we got to know a bit more about each other: how many people there are in each family, what they like and what they don’t like. We found out that many students love pizza, but don’t like snails!

On the 26th of September we celebrated the European Day of Languages; we learnt the names of some countries and how to say “hello” in different languages. On this day we played a game in which the students travelled to different countries and said hello in Spanish, Finnish, Italian, French, German and even Turkish and Romanian!

We like our new book called The New Tiger because of its great pictures and stories. We have also already learned to say things we do in English: watch TV, play games, listen to music, go on excursions, take photos, and more. We can now tell you something about our days in English!
